The Llangollen and District amateur operatic and dramatic society was established in 1908 staging the first show HMS Pinafore, one of the famous operettas by Gilbert and Sullivan in 1909. Shows have been staged annually except for the war years when the centenary was celebrated in 2009 it was appropriate to stage HMS Pinafore. The society is affiliated to the national operatic and dramatic association and has over the years taken part in the Clwyd community theatre association and the Waterford festivals. In conjunction with Wrexham council and Markischar Kreis in Germany exchange visit took place with the members of Frauenchor Evingsen.
